Explore the epic Lofoten!

Far above the Arctic Circle in the very north of Norway, there is an archipelago that has it all - spectacular coastlines with jaw-dropping mountain peaks, majestic fjords and quaint fishing villages are waiting for you to be captured!

The Lofoten Islands are truly a paradise for every Landscape Photographer! The combination of dramatic landscapes and constantly changing weather makes this place so unique! Winter gives the majestic scenery the little extra touch. The mountains are wrapped in a white robe of snow, the low sun gently illuminates the landscapes with a golden light and during the night, the magical Northern Lights are dancing at the sky.

Snow-covered houses built on wooden stilts along a calm body of water at dusk, with mountainous landscape in the background and accent lighting illuminating the scene.

Our 7 Day Photography Tour to the Lofoten Islands is designed for everyone who wants to capture the breathtaking landscapes of the Arctic.

You will have the chance to create stunning images at places like Uttakleiv Beach & Haukland Beach as well as iconic villages Reine & Hamnøy. We will also visit some of the lesser known locations that are for sure as photogenic as the more popular places.

We will travel in a small group of max. 6 photography enthusiasts, with plenty of time for individual guidance on site.

By the end of this week you’ll not only master landscape photography in Arctic conditions, but also confidently shoot the Northern Lights and edit your photos in Lightroom to create gallery-ready images

Disclaimer: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon which cannot be guaranteed - but Lofoten’s position increases your chances significantly. With my experience, flexible planning, and real-time weather/Aurora tracking, we’ll always position ourselves for the best possible chances.

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrival day

In the afternoon, all participants will be picked up from the airport in Leknes. From the airport, we will go directly to our first holiday home located a couple of kilometers outside of Leknes.

On this first day, we will get to know each other, talk about the plans for the photo tour and share other important information. You will get a short introduction about manual camera settings and basics in landscape composition. We will also have dinner together.

If time permits and conditions allow, we will head out on the search for Northern Lights or photograph the nearby beaches at Haukland or Uttakleiv.

Snow-covered mountains near a body of water at sunset.

Day 2-6 - Exploring the beauty of the Lofoten Islands

On the next 5 days, we will explore and photograph the best photo spots on the Lofoten Islands. There is a list of locations we want to visit during the trip, but we won't have a fixed itinerary to be able to give you the best possible experience.

Our accommodations will be modern and cosy holiday homes which are located close to the main photo spots. We will plan each day dependent on the weather, but be prepared to be outdoors from sunrise till sunset (and even after sunset for Northern Lights). In the middle of February, we will have more than 7 hours of daylight for our photography. That gives us plenty of time for photographing as well as other activities.

You have to chance to book an exciting Sea Eagle Safari (optional) where we will head out on a RIB boat on the search for the majestic sea eagles.

During the day, we have time to discuss the results of the shootings and to edit our photos together. I will show you my post-processing workflow in Lightroom and how to edit your photos efficiently.

In the evenings, we will head out to chase Northern Lights if the conditions are promising. Imagine capturing those spectacular dance performances at the night sky with your camera!

On our last evening, we will have our farewell dinner together as a group and the possibility to discuss your achievements of the trip.

Day 7 - Departure day

On the last day, we can use the morning for another photo shooting during sunrise. We will head back to Leknes after breakfast to be able to catch the airplane back home in the afternoon.

  • The most convenient way to get to Leknes is by airplane.

Most connections depart from Oslo via Bodø (several times a day).

  • Due to Norwegian laws and regulations, I am unable to charge for transportation. Therefore, the transport during the tour is provided as a complimentary service and is not included in the workshop price.

  • We will stay in two different holiday homes which are both located close to some of the main photo spots. The holiday homes are of modern standard and have several bathrooms.

The standard rooms are twin rooms with separate beds, but you can book your own private room at a surcharge (select this option in the booking process).

  • Yes, you can bring your drone, but there are important regulations to follow. Before flying your drone, you must register it and pass the required certification at flydrone.no. Additionally, drones weighing over 250 grams must comply with stricter rules, including maintaining a safe distance from people and avoiding flights over crowds. Ensure you have appropriate insurance and are confident in flying responsibly. For more detailed information about drone regulations and best practices in Norway, visit the Drone Guide for Norway.

  • Please note that we will do some shorter hikes on this trip. The hikes will neither be long nor steep. However, it is important that all participants take care of themselves, especially when we shoot at the coastline. The stones can be very slippery. If any location is out of your comfort zone, you’re more than welcome to shoot another location, stay at the hotel and rest, or wait until we get to another more comfortable location for you.

  • We welcome all experience levels, going from beginners to experienced photographers. A good mix of experience levels means we can also learn from each other. It is important that you bring your own camera & tripod, so you can get the most out of this trip!

In case you need to cancel less than 30 days prior to the trip, I can only refund the payments if I can replace the seat.
